| FINAL ITINERARY |
Independence Day Parade Honoring the United States of America Mission Date; July 4, 2009 Ride Captain: Mike “Gunner” Lambert; (817) 368-9076 (c); mikelambert2@aol.com In the 2008 parade the Traveling Liberty
Bell and the North Texas Patriot Guard Riders were awarded the "Grand
Marshall Award". This is the number one award given to
participants in this parade. The parade officials were so
impressed with the riders and the flags during the lineup that
the NTPGR was moved from 88th position to the second in the parade.
Riding just in front of David Hall and the Liberty Bell seemed to be
just the right place. This is an excellent opportunity to introduce
the PGR to those in the community who may not have been exposed to
the cause we stand for. This is the one day of the year that
most Americans will stand up and wave the American flag. We
could not pick a better day to demonstrate our patriotism to the
public. Part 1 – Parade:
Saturday, July 4th – 9:00 AM Staging – 0630 AM; Briefing – 06:45 AM; Parade Lineup – 07:00 AM; KSU – 09:00 AM Plano Senior High School Parking Lot 2200 Independence Parkway Map - http://tinyurl.com/nbteb4 We will set up our parade formation, big flag bikes followed by all other bikes in the line position designated by the parade officials. Once the bikes are in formation, we will do all that we can to hydrate. I want to try an impress on each rider the importance of hydration the night before. The weather will be hot, the bikes will be hot and this would not be the time to end up lying on the hot pavement. During this hot weather it is as important to drink plenty of water but do not forget Gator-aid type drinks to increase your body’s electrolytes. Do not forget your sun screen. Final
Destination: St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church 2700 W. Spring Creek Pkwy (972) 569-5505 Map - http://tinyurl.com/nog5g8 On arrival at the church, located at the end of the parade route, we will attempt to locate shade and the water truck, hydrate de-brief and depart. Weather:
According to the weather forecast at present time the temperature
should be around 99 degrees with sunny skies. The flag/water
truck will be present at both ends of the Parade route.
Due to parade restrictions, cages will not be allowed in the
parade. I encourage each of you to go to the parade web
site and read the rules and restrictions. http://www.planoparade.com/index.asp Respectfully Submitted, Mike “Gunner” Lambert North Texas Ride Captain |
