Mission:

Stand a flag line at 1:45 p.m. to honor James Vergauwen (pronounced Ver Gowen) at DFW National Cemetery.

Obituary:

James Alfred Vergauwen, 65, of Moody, went to meet his Lord and Savior Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, due to complications from cancer.

Graveside services will be 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway in Dallas. The Reverend Mike Rucker, of Wichita Falls, will be presiding.

The family will be accepting visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20, at the Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco.

He was born Sept. 22, 1945, in Grand Prairie, to Alfred and Elsie Vergauwen. On Nov. 6, 1965, he married his childhood sweetheart, Wynell Boss, in Waco. Together they moved to Wichita Falls, where they were long time residents.

James was a Vietnam Veteran, and was very supportive of all other veterans.

Details Of Part 1:

We will stage at 1:00 p.m. at DFW National Cemetery and be tall and silent to honor this hero at 1:45 p.m. I have spoken with his niece and she says the entire family has gotten goose bumps knowing that the Patriot Guard Riders will be there during this time to support them. James and his wife have been together since they were 8 years old she told me.

- Iron horses if you can, cages are always welcome and appreciated.


- Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for this patriot and their family.


- We will park along the main street close to the designated shelter with 2 bikes side by side as close to the curb and each other as possible so that traffic can get by.

Let's always remember to keep the motorcycle and voice noise to a minimum when arriving and leaving the shelters.
