Obituary Highlights:
|
Augustus Bentley (Gus) Green, Jr., 92, passed away on Sunday, September 7th, at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Sherman, Texas. Gus was born in Dallas, Texas to Augustus and Lucy Green on November 12, 1921. He graduated from Crozier Technical School in 1940 and in the same year enlisted in the Army Air Corps.
He began his career as a mechanic but soon received his wings in 1943 as one of the few “Flying Sergeants” of WWII. During the war, only 217 sergeant pilots flew overseas combat missions.
He retired from the newly formed U. S. Air Force at the age of 48 after 30 years of service. Gus began a new career with the U. S. Postal Service, where he retired as a maintenance supervisor for another fifteen years retiring again at the age of 63.

at the First Baptist Church to receive the family and
friends of Sgt. Augustus Green, Jr. When the service begins,
the flags will be furled and stowed in the support vehicle
and we will have a briefing and staging details for the
procession.

will be dismissed

welcome and appreciated.
