Billy Wayne Ballard, Gunnery Sergeant USMC, retired, of Plano, Texas & long time resident of East Tawakoni, Texas was born on July 17, 1930 in Davidson, OK and passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Thursday, August 28, 2014. Bill's 23 years of distinguished service in the United States Marine Corp, began in November, 1950. He was stationed around the world including American Embassy Duty in Mexico City, active duty in Korea and Vietnam earning him numerous commendations including National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
After his retirement Bill joined the Dallas County Sheriff's Department where he continued to serve and protect for the next 18 years.

Details Of Part 1:
|
The Patriot Guard Riders will stage at the Visitor's Center,
DFW National Cemetery. Following the Mission briefing,
Riders will proceed to Shelter C and stand the Flag Line for
the Inurnment Service of GY SGT Billy Ballard . At the
conclusion of the Service, the Flags will be returned to
storage and Riders dismissed.

- DRESS CODE: Please Dress In A Manner Appropriate For
Attending A Funeral Service.
- Iron horses if you
can, cages are always welcome and appreciated.

Safety First: Please remember to properly hydrate (including
the night before) before any outdoor activity and to dress
appropriately. Do not hesitate to take a break at any time
if you feel you need to get in the shade or get indoors and
always ask for help at any time. Also please do not forget
your sun screen.
- Please remember that our mission
is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for
this patriot and their family. NO TALKING, SMOKING, CHEWING
OF TOBACCO PRODUCTS, OR CELL PHONE USE IN THE FLAG LINE!
- We will park along the main street close to the
designated shelter with 2 bikes side by side as close to the
curb and each other as possible so that traffic can get by.
- Riders NOT UTILIZING HANDICAPPED PARKING are requested
to park as far forward as possible at the Visitor's Center
to keep the closest spaces available for other guests.
- Cemeteries are hallowed ground. Please keep radios off
and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed
limit. Show our respect to ALL who are there, not just the
one we are honoring.
